Daintree Rainforest Road Trip

Here’s a little secret, Cairns doesn’t have to be costly to your wallet. Self-driving is the best way to get around and see what Cairn’s has to offer. The Daintree Rainforest Road Trip will allow you to enter an worlds heritage tourist location.
Getting to Cow Bay is one quick ferry ride with your car and is 20 min drive from Port Douglas. Before you leave from your destination always be prepared with a picnic, swimmers, mosquito spray and an umbrella.

Follow the sealed road and you will easily find signs for Cow Bay if it’s not too windy this is the perfect picnic spot. There is also a couple of rope swings if you dare to have a bit of fun and want to get that insta selfie. Once your nice and warmed up, make sure you pop into the Daintree Ice Cream Co. The Daintree Ice Cream Co is located on a fruit farm and makes the ice cream from all their native fruit located grown on site, perfect sugar hit to wake you up for the drive back. 

Honestly this is all you need to do in the Daintree, of course there is other activities to do and some of you may be thinking, that’s a long way to drive for an ice cream (2 hours from Cairns), however you will leave relaxed from breathing in the fresh air and your taste buds will be happy from trying all the unique ice cream flavours that you may of never tried before.
However, for those who want more action pack, there is many hikes or walks to do, and if you have kids the Daintree Discovery Centre is good to explore.
Tips
It’s good to get back before dark as the Highway can be dangerous at night-time to drive.
Keep your camera ready as you may see the local Cassowary’s.
